The evolution of technology has opened up opportunities for new developments and innovations in society. However, people are then forced to keep up with these advancements by employing the use of the latest trends in tools, applications, software, strategies and techniques to maintain efficiency and productivity in their working environments as dictated by modern standards.

The landscape of education is one of those fields that is undergoing a lot of revamping and improvement. Traditional learning is slowly becoming a thing of the past as more and more people have less time to allocate for learning experiences within the confinement of rigid classroom rules. The innovation of elearning is slowly but steadily becoming the popular choice in studying. Its reach has even extended beyond schools and is now being used for training in corporate settings everywhere.

Corporations and other organizations have an increased demand for staff or member training. This endeavor has a lot of potential complications and can be a source of major problems for many businesses. In an attempt to avoid any logistical difficulties, these groups have turned to elearning solutions to make things easier and a whole lot better for their system. But are they really credible?

Electronic learning is not a new concept, and there are a lot of available resources on the internet that discuss its nature, use and many benefits. Elearning solutions combine traditional learning and teaching methods with technology and internet. It is an advantage to use it because it is basically far more convenient and flexible. Since it is available online, users can simply log on to web based platforms or applications and learn the content provided to them. But one of its best features is that it allows people to learn at their own pace and choose content according to preference-it is a personalized learning experience.

However, it is less common to encounter resources that discuss its disadvantages. A lot of people are skeptical of its use and suggest that it is merely a hype that will die down once it can no longer keep up with the ‘real world’.

The first issue is that quality elearning solutions are dependent on instructors. If the instructor is useless and ineffective, then it will reflect on the content and the course as a whole. The truth of the matter is a lot of instructors find it extremely difficult to use electronic learning solutions mainly because it’s more time consuming for them to provide the expected individualized feedback. Also, there are the matters of equipment, technical training and support and etc.

Second is that it is necessary to address the academic honesty of online learners or students especially when it comes to tests and assessment of performance. The absence of personal contact is a major setback. This issue makes a lot of people question whether or not these solutions are really effective.

Like many products of technology, electronic learning will continue to undergo a lot of developments and improvements in the coming years. It is difficult to judge whether or not it really is the future of learning, or just a passing fancy like some innovations. Its credibility will solely rely on users and their judgment.
